Google updated their terms of service (TOS) on April 12th, 2018 to prohibit review gating, which is the practice of blocking negative reviews while selectively soliciting positive ones. This update ensures that all customers have the same experience when being asked for online reviews. Avey Reviews is in compliance with this guideline, as all three of their modes (Ultimate Mode, Review Mode, and Direct Mode) allow customers to access online review links regardless of their Net Promoter Score. Avey Reviews also received approval for their Request Modes from the Google My Business team.
To comply with Google’s TOS, Avey Reviews has created a Negative Landing Page that provides personalized content and a “Direct Feedback” button for unhappy customers to provide private feedback. Online review sites are still visible on the Negative Landing Page, as required by Google’s guidelines. Avey Reviews also offers additional request mode options, including the ability to turn copy/paste functionality on or off and the ability to turn off 3rd-party review sites if they are not requesting Google or Trip Advisor reviews.
